Monsters and fables at the bookstore

Another weekend, another bookstore event:

Including Peter McC.arty reading one of Talia’s very favoritest books:

Milo made a few additions to the reading:

Bonus points to anyone who can identify the classic children’s literature characters Talia and Milo’s outfits were inspired by.  Here’s a close-up of Milo’s freezer paper stencil shirt:

Caldecott winner Paul Zel.in.sky:

Rose L.ewis with her new lullaby book (she’s also the author of “I love you like crazy cakes”):

And the author of “Jeremy Draws a Monster” (and many other books including a Caldecott-winner) himself:

And a better shot of Talia’s dress for those still puzzling over the inspiration (Talia put on her new dress and then said very, very sadly “But where are the pockets?” so I guess I’ll have to add some soon):

i think i know! but i have an unfair advantage. there’s a new house we’re under contract on, and the second time we visited, we saw a coyote (which i thought was a wolf for a few days) outside the fence! it made me think of this book. what book by peter mccarty does talia especially enjoy? i love the updates on M and T and the window into city adventures with little ones!
