Not quite DC

but not all that far away is the city of Annapolis. We took the kids for an afternoon of book store browsing, lunch and beach. Or at least that’s what we had planned.

First stop, an adorable bookstore in downtown Annapolis complete with cafe and shaded garden with kid-sized playhouse. Not pictured because of the mosquitos. But they did have dress-up items inside:

And after lunch it was time for the long-awaited beach … except it turns out that all but one beach in that part of Maryland are private. So instead we snuck into a “private” park overlooking the water and enjoyed the view:

A pretty successful day even without swimming. And hopefully we’ll get to the public beach near us soon.
